Project Overview

Most people do not need another to-do list. They need a daily practice that keeps their goals in sight and their head clear. GoalJournal is a habit tracking app built around exactly that: a guided routine in the style of the 5 Minute Journal that combines daily goal-setting, gratitude prompts, and a Stoic evening review in one short, structured session.

Built for iOS and Android, it helps users break big goals into daily steps, notice their emotional patterns, and keep a mindfulness-grounded practice going one entry at a time. The Stoic angle gives the app its character: instead of vague positivity, the evening review asks whether you did your best today, question by question.

The audience is anyone chasing self-improvement without the friction: people who want structure for motivation and emotional wellness in a few focused minutes a day, not another heavyweight productivity system.

• RevenueCat: in-app subscriptions, so the product was ready to monetize from day one.

Challenges & Solutions

The app was built during FlutterFlow’s early beta, when plenty of components and features simply did not exist yet. We worked around the gaps by rethinking the UX patterns and streamlining the logic flows, which kept the full feature set intact without waiting on the platform to mature.

The other challenge was visual. A journaling app has to look minimal and calm, yet stay comfortably readable across longer entries. We solved it with careful spacing, a restrained color palette, and consistent typography across every module, so the interface recedes and the writing takes center stage.

Development Time

Three weeks from concept to a store-ready product on both platforms, covering design, build, backend, and subscription setup.

Impact or Outcome

GoalJournal launched on iOS and Android and earned positive early feedback for its clean UI and user-friendly structure. The clearest validation came later: the app was acquired through Flippa, which showed real market appeal for the product. It continues today under its new owner.

My Role & Value

We ran the full lifecycle as designer and developer in one: concept, UX, the FlutterFlow build, the Firebase backend, the subscription setup, and deployment to both stores. Speed was the point. Going from idea to a live, monetizable product in three weeks is exactly what our MVP development exists for, and the cross-platform app development approach meant one build covered both platforms from day one.
