An anonymized case study of a platform where verified doctors learn the latest treatments in minutes and earn honoraria for every course they complete.

Project Overview
Doctors want to keep up with new treatments, but their calendars leave no room for hour-long courses. Our client, a company in the medical education space, had proven exactly that with an MVP: a medical education app that condenses the latest treatment knowledge into lessons of five minutes or less, and pays doctors honoraria when they complete a course.
The client operates in a sensitive medical niche, so this case study is anonymized: we cannot name the product or link to it. Every fact here still comes from work we shipped.
Our job was to rebuild that MVP properly. The client needed one codebase that runs on iOS, Android, and the web, connects cleanly to their own backend system, and is fast to iterate on as the course catalog grows.
Key Features
Microlearning modules: bite-sized lessons on the latest treatments, most under five minutes.
Earn and learn: verified doctors receive honoraria after completing a course.
Passwordless sign-in: doctors enter an email and get a magic link, no password to remember.
Role-gated onboarding: content stays exclusive to verified medical professionals, approved by staff.
Honoraria overview: processing, held, and paid out balances with a full transaction history.
In-app messaging and support: doctors reach the team without leaving the app, via Intercom.
Event tracking: usage signals feed the client’s own analytics so they can improve the catalog.
Tech Stack & Integrations
FlutterFlow: one codebase for iOS, Android, and web, chosen for rebuild speed and easy iteration.
The client’s proprietary backend system: courses, doctor verification, and honoraria all live there.
Intercom: support conversations and in-app messaging.
The client’s own analytics platform: receives the app’s custom usage events.
Challenges & Solutions
The defining constraint was that nothing could be swapped out on the server side. The app had to plug into the client’s proprietary backend system rather than a stock backend-as-a-service, which is a very different discipline from greenfield work: the product has to fit an existing system, not the other way around. It is the same integration muscle our backend development work builds on, applied from the app side.
Sign-in is a good example. Doctors log in with a magic link sent to their email, so there is no password at all, and that flow had to run against the client’s own system while feeling instant on every platform. Onboarding added another layer: a medical education app that pays honoraria cannot let just anyone in, so new users go through role-gated onboarding where staff verify that each account belongs to a real medical professional before any content unlocks.
Development Time
30 days from the start of the rebuild to full deployment across web, Android, and iOS.
Impact or Outcome
The app is live on all three platforms and actively used by verified doctors. The client fully adopted the FlutterFlow version as the product’s foundation, for its speed, maintainability, and cross-platform reach. Because of the niche’s sensitivity and the verification process involved, the product’s name and links stay private.
My Role & Value
We rebuilt the client’s MVP end to end: architecture, the integration with their backend system, the role-gated onboarding, and a clean, minimal UI that leaves room to grow. The value was a 30-day turnaround that gave the client one maintainable codebase for three platforms instead of a fragile prototype.
